I decided to use a thick outline to better separate the layers and to give the character a more cartoonish feel. To go along with the less realistic look, I used bright, vivid colors and also added the little cactus, which also serves to help identify the landscape as a desert. The facial features are very simple. I thought this looked best, mostly because I do not draw very well.
